Dr.Don is a retired physicist who is in excellent health, due to good genes, good diet, and moderate exercise. He began writing on health topics in rebellion against the huge amount of bad information on diet and weight loss. Those misleading “experts” include some medical doctors, dieticians, and nutritionists trying to make a fast buck selling quack pills, potions, and plans. During times of stress, his weight and cholesterol rose above good targets, which he learned to fix with good life style, not pills.

Dr.Don has also written on contact lenses and spectacles. Vision correction and movable type printing press helped to create the modern world and global warming.

“Health care reform” should start with everyone accepting responsibility for his/her own actions. Don’t use tobacco, then whine about cancer and bad luck.

Dr.Don is qualified to give advice on matters involving physics, chemistry, some biology, such as when weight-loss claims clearly contradict what is possible or safe. Any opinions expressed on medical matters are based on resources believed to be reliable, such as government, clinic, hospital, or university sponsored web sites or books. Sometimes readers are referred to other web sites as “worth a visit, what do you think?”

Recent news items show that a large part of our national cost of health care is surgeries and pills which provide little or no benefit to the victim/patient. So much for the traditional “I’m a doctor; trust me.”
